Mrs. David Beckham, Royal Wedding guest and mommy to Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and new princess baby Harper has been a popular fashion icon since her Posh Spice days. Throughout her four pregnancies, she has rocked sky-high Christian Louboutin or Jimmy Choo pumps, and her signature jeans were as skinny as ever. Her original line of denim, dVb was incredibly popular, and speaking from experience, is phenomenal. She now has extended her fashion reach to creating her own line of designer handbags, capes, coats and dresses worn by famous friends and style icons like Eva Longoria and Katie Holmes.
Her hair has changed, but her incredible body and sense of fashion savvy has remained. Her personal style is always something to be emulated and admired in all aspects of life and style.
Here is a look at some of Victoria’s most posh moments.
The Posh Bride
For her July 4, 1999 wedding to “footballer” David, Victoria chose to go for all out glamour and luxury. Affectionately referred to in the British press as “Posh and Becks,” the power couple was royalty while Kate Middleton was still at St. Andrews meeting Wills. For Victoria’s own crowning Princess moment, she chose a fitted ivory Vera Wang, along with custom-made Manolo Blahnik shoes, and of course, a crown. Their 4-month old son Brooklyn was the adorable ring bearer.
Throughout her four pregnancies, Victoria has remained the epitome of chic. Featuring belly-hugging outfits then capes and ponchos in the later months, but always with a stiletto, she made it stylish to stay slender-as-ever-plus-baby-bump.
When the Beckhams moved to Los Angeles in 2007, Mrs. Beckham enjoyed an adorable, humorously cheeky but short-lived documentary Victoria Beckham: Coming to America. The reality show allowed a whole new continent to fall under her spell and-gasp- we even saw her wear flat shoes once while pulled over for driving with a Spanish license.
Her signature style piece has always been the immaculately tailored pair of jeans. When she first collaborated with Rock & Republic, her iconic symbol was, of course, a crown. She then transitioned to star seams and then of course eventually her own line. I have a pair of the crown-emblazoned pair and I love them.
I personally adored Victoria’s book, That Extra Half an Inch- she candidly discusses major style moments in her life while also chronicling her favorite designers, styles and fashion inspirations. It reads like a Bible of Louboutins, Burberry and Bottega Venetta- but is somehow full of her self-deprecating and adorable humor and personality. I highly recommend picking it up.
Royal Wedding Guest
She and hubby David made the coveted list for the most-watched media event of all time on April 29, 2011. In case you missed it, Victoria, six months pregnant at the time, wore a gorgeously understated navy dress (her own design, of course) and completed her look with a Philip Tracy fascinator and Christian Louboutin pumps. She had been criticized for drawing too much attention at previous wedding she attended, but executed this look perfectly with her laid-back ponytail.
Fashion Week Fixation
Her gorgeous, tailored, fitted yet wearable by those other than her 00 size dresses were a huge hit at Fashion Week. She has taken all praise from prestigious fashion critics and acclaim from retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Net-A-Porter in her usual demure, gracious way. In addition to her gorgeous designs, she contributed to the beauty of the world-hubby David holding baby Harper was one of the cutest images to come out of New York Fashion Week 2012. Equally as fabulous was underwear model David’s twitpic about his wife “taking Fashion Week by the balls”
I could go on and on about how inspiring Victoria Beckham has been. A former Girl Band idol became tabloid target became one of the world’s most photographed women, all the while tending to an internationally known footballer husband and four small children while moving all around the globe. She certainly has her style, and through her new collections, she is sharing it with the rest of us. Merci, Madame Beckham!
